"What's in a name?"

Over the past couple of seasons the teams in the Guilderland United Soccer Club have been identified by their age group, gender, and coach’s last name. Example: U13 Boys Kinnally. Beginning as of the third session at Afrims, these same teams will have “New” team names. Now many clubs allow their teams to just pick their names out of thin air, while some have a theme behind their names. Some name themselves after countries or even international club teams. Guilderland United’s new team names also have a theme behind their selection. From 1968 through 1982 the North American Soccer League operated throughout the United States and Canada. The names chosen by the GUSC Teams are these same names. If you’re curious what the old logo’s look like you can even check them out on line. So now when you support your favorite GUSC team and cheer them on to victory, you will understand what’s behind that name your cheering!
